Will SealPod capsules damage my machine?

With proper use, SealPod capsules will not damage your machine. SealPod capsules are shorter than Nespresso® capsules, therefore the puncturing needle never comes in contact with the stainless steel SealPod capsule. Closing your machine may seem a little more difficult depending on the model - this snug fit is necessary for optimal performance and compatibility. However, the silicone ring may be removed when using an older machine if necessary.

I would like to grind fresh coffee beans to use in my SealPod capsule, what kind of grinder should I use?

We recommend using a burr grinder for the best results, as blade grinders may create too much dust.

What grind size is recommended for use with SealPod capsules?

We recommend using a grind similar to that used for stovetop coffee brewing, and applying a firm tamp. You can grind your own coffee beans fresh at home, or ask your favourite cafe to grind the beans to moka pot/stovetop for the best results. Or you can check out our delicious Bespoke Blend, ground specifically for use with your reusable pods!

Are the Espresso Sticker Lids recyclable?

Yes, our SealPod Espresso Lids are recyclable! If your local recycling facility are unable to sort items of this size, simply collect them in an aluminium can, squeeze it shut when full, and place in your home recycling bin.

Can I use SealPod capsules to brew Tea?

Yes, SealPod capsules also let you enjoy your favourite tea leaves or hot chocolate. Ideally, it is best to choose a loose leaf tea that is suitable to brew at 88 degrees. When filling the capsule, simply tamp down more gently than you would when brewing coffee. This ensures there is enough space in the capsule for tea leaves, etc. to expand during the brewing process. To finish, seal with a paper SealPod Biodegradable Sticker Lid. Once the capsule is placed in your machine, simply press and hold either extraction button until you reach the desired water level.

And can I use the Biodegradable Lids to brew coffee as well?

Biodegradable Sticker Lids are best for brewing tea, hot chocolate, and chai. However, whilst our Biodegradable Sticker Lids are also suitable for brewing coffee, when brewing coffee we do recommend a double-shot or using Espresso Sticker Lids for a richer coffee and crema.

SealPod capsules seem pretty easy to use, but can I get more detailed instructions?

Before you brew anything in your Nespresso® machine, the following is recommended: Fill the water tank with filtered water. Remove capsules and rinse inside the head. Place a cup under the coffee outlet and extract a shot of the water. We also recommend cleaning your machine every day after use, or at least once a week.

Brewing coffee with SealPod: Step 1. Beans and grind

The best espresso is always made with freshly roasted and ground coffee. We recommend buying your coffee from your favourite local cafe or roaster. Ask for your coffee beans to be ground to a fine grind between "espresso" and "stovetop" (a coarseness of about 3.5). Capsules sold in boutiques and supermarkets are designed to brew 30-40mL of coffee per capsule,
however you may talk to your local barista about the recommended coffee to water ratio of your chosen coffee if you are trying to achieve specific results. When grinding coffee beans at home, we recommend burr grinders as they create a consistent grind with minimal dust.

Step 2. Filling the SealPod capsule
Fill the capsule, then tamp gently using the base of your scoop. Repeat to ensure capsule is full. Brush any excess grinds from the rim of your SealPod.

Step 3. Sealing the capsule
Seal with a SealPod Espresso Sticker Lid, place in your coffee capsule machine and brew as per machine instructions. You may prepare a number of capsules for future use by placing them in SealPod Fresh Cover and storing in a cool, dark place.

Brewing tea with SealPod: Step 1. Filling the capsule
Choose a loose leaf tea that is suitable to brew at 88 degrees. We recommend filling your
capsule two-thirds from the top - this ensures there is enough space in the capsule for tea leaves to expand during the brewing process.

Step 2. Sealing the capsule
Brush any excess tea from the rim of your SealPod and seal with a paper SealPod Biodegradable Sticker Lid.

Step 3. The brew
Press and hold either extraction button until you reach the desired water level.
Please note: Tea brewing instructions vary, this is only general advice. We suggest you experiment with your selected tea for desired results. Using the SealPod Biodegradable
Sticker Lid, you may also fill your SealPod capsule with hot chocolate or chai using the
above instructions.

What are the black silicone Fresh Covers used for?

Always have a fresh coffee pod ready to go by filling multiple SealPod capsules in advance. Simply fill, tamp and seal as usual, then place the base of the SealPod capsule in the black silicone Fresh Cover and store in a dark, dry place.
