How to use WayCap capsules (for Nespresso®)
WayCap capsules may be used with the following Nespresso* machines only - Inissia, Pixie, Citiz, Maestria, Lattissima, Essenza, Kitchen Aid, Handpresso Auto Capsule, Expert, Wacaco Minipresso NS, Wacaco Nanopresso NS and Prodigio.
The manual Dispenser and Press have been perfected to allow for a quick refill of the pod without any waste. With the new WayCap EZ screw-top design, we estimate that you'll be able to fill your capsules in about the same amount of time that it takes for your machine to warm up.
WayCap capsules are designed to fit perfectly, and with proper use, will not harm the machine.
We recommend using a burr grinder for the best results, as blade grinders create an inconsistent grind, as well as too much dust.
Firstly, we always recommend grabbing a bag of our delicious Bespoke Blend in stovetop grind (crafted specifically for use with WayCap) to get you going - you can also take this along to your local roaster as a great grind reference point!
And of course, one of the beauties of reusable pods, is that you're no longer restricted to the blends available from big brands. To help you brew a great planet-friendly cuppa, we've put together our key tips for selecting the perfect coffee for your new reusable pods!
Blend: It's important to remember coffee beans are an agricultural product - naturally, they differ! The roasting process also has a big impact on the final product. As pure coffee beans have no added flavours, we suggest using a lovely strong, dark roast. We also encourage you to try a new blend every time you shop for a new bag of coffee as you build an understanding for which flavours and aromas suit your palate.
Grind size: We recommend using a medium-fine grind (slightly coarser than espresso). If you're not grinding at home, ask your favourite cafe to grind the beans for you.
Machine prep (recommended for best results)
Remove any capsules from the machine, fill the water tank with filtered water, place a cup under the coffee outlet and extract a shot of the water. To assist with optimal performance, before brewing with reusable pods, we also recommend performing a thorough descale to ensure that the brewing pressure of your machine is normal.
Step 1. Fill
Unscrew the cap, lay the dispenser over the capsule, and fill using a teaspoon. Tamp with every teaspoon added until the coffee is in line with the rim of the capsule. Level the coffee using the handle of a spoon to remove any excess if needed.
Step 2. Seal
Select your filter, and plug it into the cap. Screw the lid firmly closed, ensuring there are no residual grinds on the thread of the capsule (between the body and the top).
Step 3. Brew
Insert the capsule into the machine, brew and, enjoy!
Luckily for you, unlike other steel-topped coffee pods, WayCap packs comes with 4 interchangeable Steel Filters - each one suited to a particular grind size to help you enjoy an excellent, creamy espresso with your chosen coffee!
• For a slow extraction (very fine grind), use a filter with more slots.
• For a watery coffee (coarse grind), a filter with minimal slots is best.
Once clicked into place, simply screw the lid onto the capsule body. Check out the following video for a quick tutorial on how to switch out your filters.
WayCap capsules are made entirely of stainless steel, so can be reused infinitely. Aside from the spent coffee grounds, they don’t produce any waste. Their environmental impact is also minimal at every stage of production - every part of the pod is manufactured in the immediate vicinity of the warehouse, and the packaging is made entirely of recycled materials.
For longer style coffees (or if you just need a particularly strong cuppa!) we recommend using 2 WayCap pods on a 40mL extraction setting.
WayCap can contain up to 6g of coffee.
