How to use WayCap capsules (for Dolce Gusto®)

Are WayCap Dolce Gusto* capsules compatible with my machine?

WayCap for Dolce Gusto* pods are compatible with all Dolce Gusto* coffee machines, except Infinissima.

I would like to grind my own fresh coffee beans, what kind of grinder should I use?

We recommend using a burr grinder for the best results, as blade grinders may create too much dust.

What coffee is recommended for use with WayCap capsules?

Firstly, we always recommend grabbing a bag of our delicious Bespoke Blend in espresso grind (crafted specifically for use with WayCap) to get you going - you can also take this along to your local roaster as a great grind reference point!

And of course, one of the beauties of reusable pods, is that you're no longer restricted to the blends available from big brands. To help you brew a great planet-friendly cuppa, we've put together our key tips for selecting the perfect coffee for your new reusable pods!

Blend: It's important to remember coffee beans are an agricultural product - naturally, they differ! The roasting process also has a big impact on the final product. As pure coffee beans have no added flavours, we suggest using a lovely strong, dark roast. We also encourage you to try a new blend every time you shop for a new bag of coffee as you build an understanding for which flavours and aromas suit your palate.

Grind size: We recommend using a fine grind. If you're not grinding at home, ask your favourite cafe to grind the beans for you.

Machine prep (recommended for best results)
To assist with optimal performance, before brewing with reusable pods we recommend performing a thorough descale to ensure that the brewing pressure of your machine is normal.

Step 1. Fill
With the Capsule in the Dock, select your Filter, and place in the base of your Capsule. Using a teaspoon, fill with around 7.5g-8.5g of ground coffee. Tamp lightly, filling the capsule to two-thirds capacity. Please note: Over-filling or under-filling may cause the cover to open during the brewing process. Overfilling the capsule may result in incomplete closure of the Cap, risking damage to the machine.

Step 2. Seal
Place the Silicone Cap on top of the Capsule, pressing until it is completely closed.

Step 3. Brew
Place the Capsule into the capsule holder of the machine. Align the front of the Silicone Cap (where the small hole is located) with the centre of the machine's capsule holder. If the machine lever doesn't close, double check that you have aligned the capsule correctly. Brew, and enjoy!

How do I remove and clean my capsule?

After each use, we recommend waiting 10 minutes before cleaning - this will allow the capsule to cool, and the pressure to return to normal (allowing the lever to be opened easily avoiding damage to the Silicone Cap). Ensuring the capsule is cool, remove the Silicone Cap, and remove the coffee grounds with the handle of a teaspoon. Rinse with water, and wipe with a soft, dry cloth.
